Wallet trade history backfills are now up to 9x faster
Wallets Veltra has not indexed yet now load about four times faster on a typical wallet, and up to 9x faster on large ones. Indexed wallets stay instant.
Since September 12, the first fetch of a wallet Veltra has not indexed yet is much faster. Measured on the same wallet against the live service, a full backfill that took 34 seconds now takes about 8. On a large wallet, throughput went from 126 trades per second to 1,186.
Wallets that are already indexed are unaffected. Their history is served straight from storage and returns instantly, exactly as before. That first fetch only happens once per wallet, the first time anyone asks for it.
What to expect
Gains scale with the size of the history. A wallet with a few thousand trades finishes in seconds either way. The difference shows on wallets with deep histories, which are exactly the ones that used to take minutes. The documentation still quotes 500 trades per second per wallet, a figure the service now clears comfortably rather than one it has to hit.
Also fixed
Token symbols on Solana can be any length, and a symbol longer than 20 characters could stop a batch of trades from being saved. Affected backfills reported themselves as incomplete rather than returning a short history as if it were whole, and rescanning the wallet now fills them in.
